Through a mutual appreciation for the power of scent and a deep rooted love of the Australian land, Mihan Aromatics was born in 2017. Romantic and nostalgic. A true product of Australia.
The Beginning
There is a particular kind of knowing that happens before thought. Cedar and oil paint in a still room, the first rain after weeks of heat, salt and surf wax on sun-warmed skin. Suddenly you are somewhere else entirely. Somewhere you loved. Somewhere that made you.
Mihan Aromatics was born from this understanding. Not from a laboratory, but from a life. Two lives, tangled together in London and stretched across the Australian landscape, through neuroscience wards and barbershop chairs, through sugarcane fields in Far North Queensland and the sensory richness of the land itself.
Each of our scents is a portal, not a product. A doorway back to the best sensory experiences of your life, and forward into the version of yourself you most want to inhabit.

The Meeting of Two Minds
When Julia and Josh came together, so did neuroscience and craft, clinical understanding and barbershop instinct, the farming memory of Queensland and the sensory philosophy of London's finest grooming rooms. They found they had been documenting the same thing from different angles: the extraordinary power of a single inhalation to transport, to heal, to transform.

The Science of Memory
Julia did not set out to create perfume. She set out to heal the brain and body. Working as a neurophysiotherapist at a private neurorehabilitation hospital in London, she witnessed something extraordinary: the right scent, introduced at the right moment and inhaled, could reach into a brain-injured patient and stir something profound. Invigoration of alertness, wakefulness, emotion and memory. The olfactory system, she understood, is the only sense that bypasses the rational mind and travels directly to the limbic cortex, the emotional and memory centre of the brain. She had witnessed first-hand the power of scent.
Julia grew up inheriting this sensitivity from the land itself. Her grandparents were sugarcane farmers from the rural tropics of Far North Queensland, a long generational line of growers whose fields she remembers playing hide-and-seek in, devouring the juicy sugarcane stalks straight from the earth. The sweetness of that place lives in everything she has built since.

The Craft of Presence
Josh's education was different, but no less sensory. He honed his craft at one of London's most esteemed barbershops, immersed daily in the rituals of grooming and the intimate world of fragrance. He learned which scents made a room pause. Which notes settled into skin and became something new there. He learned that fragrance is presence. That how a person smells is how they are remembered.
Josh's spirit was always restless in the best way. Innovative. Adventurous. It was this quality that took them across the world, through remote landscapes, eventually to a life carved out together in London before the pull of the Australian land proved too strong to resist.
